Civil service Aptitude Test (CSAT) is a test conducted by (Union Public Service Commission) every year to select candidates for civil service. Those who pass network exam and interview can join the important Indian public services such as IAS, IPS, etc.

New curriculum, which was introduced in 2011, has two papers. Paper I (General studies and current Affairs) includes all the topics from the old program paper I with the exception of General mental ability. Paper I will consist of 100 questions, each question carrying 2 marks each while paper II will have 80 questions each question carrying 2.5 marks each. There are four choice answers to each question. Examination papers will be made available in both in Hindi and English. However, questions relating to English language comprehension skills will be made available in English only.

A total score of anything around 210-220 signs with both reports must be good for general Category candidates to qualify for the network. There will be negative marking incorrect answers to all questions, except for some of the questions where the negative marking will be built in the form of various grades awarded to the most appropriate and not so appropriate answer for such questions. If a candidate gives an incorrect answer, one third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
